By using the discourse marker verdad, a proposal to build up a discourse marker dictionary for the informal speech acts in Costa Rica is presented. General features according to the levels of the language constitution (prosodic, semantic, pragmatic, and morphosyntactic) are used to analyze this particular discourse marker and to determine its uses and functions. The definition constructed is of a functional kind since it adds information referring to pronunciation, position or independence within the section of the discourse it belongs to. Besides, the kind of dictionary is active. The theoretical framework is based in Pragmatics, Speech Analysis and Lexicography.
