This article presents the results of the comparative study of nine brands of acetaminophen tablets 500 mg marketed detailed in Costa Rica, during the years 2015 and 2016. The study was part of the research project 540-B5-028 enrolled in the University of Costa Rica, and it consisted of the quantitative analysis of content uniformity of acetaminophen in ten doses tested for each product independently, using tablets of the same batch tests in the two years to each brand, before the expiration of the product; performing quantitation by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. All brands analyzed yielded favorable data regarding the specifications established according to USP 38 for the test for uniformity of content, resulting in an AV no more than 15 for each brand tested in both years. However, statistically it demonstrated that no significant difference for that obtained in the active substance content in 2015 with respect to 2016, six marks considered; and only three brands showed consistent results between the two years. In addition, the analysis shows involvement Anova results by factors make, year and their interaction.
