Objective: This paper reports the experience of Taller de investigation I and II, developed in two quarters of 2012, through videoconferencing and other sources of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Participants are a group of graduate students from the Master Public Health Program at University of Costa Rica. Systematization: This distant master program began in 2010 through teaching and learning process through a synchronized videoconferencing system between San Vito and the Rodrigo Facio headquarters. Other resources used were Virtual Classroom at NIDES-UCR, support and inter library distant information technology. The essence of the process is reported from several dimensions, such as curriculum, virtual classroom, theoretical conceptual practices, learning enhancement, the generation of knowledge and teachers´ profile. As for the quality of the resultant drafts for these workshops it is comparable to those from students attending the regular master program. Discussion: It is concluded that the process has been very successful as it is the extension of graduate education to remote areas of the headquarters, maximizing teaching resources, enhancing teaching and learning using available technology. Students´ acceptance with the workshop methodology is emphasized; also the atmosphere of rapprochement between teachers and students which allowed achievement of objectives.
