Abstract

Objective: A review of the subject of the most important aspects related to the process of adherence to treatment, medicines or opportunities for improvement of the state health and disease was conducted. Methods: By using the databases of the system libraries, documentation and information at the University of Costa Rica and internet sites, was selected for convenience a group of documents relevant to the topic, the information is organized considering the following sections: concepts - terms, the factors involved, the methods of measurement, classification and conveniences improvement strategies. Results: While there are documents that refer to different notions and concepts to various factors, measuring devices and other elements that demonstrate the relevance of the adhesion process, consensus, and further studies on the different aspects mentioned that achieve the goals requiredestablished but considering that people are active, complex and changing actors.
