Abstract
RIVERA-CHAVARRIA, Ignacio José; ABARCA-BRENES, Michael; BRENES-GUTIERREZ, José David and ALVARADO-MARIN, Juan Carlos. Endovascular Repair of Aortic Coarctation with Adenosine Induced Cardiac Arrest. Acta méd. costarric [online]. 2014, vol.56, n.3, pp.138-140. ISSN 0001-6002.
Aortic coarctation is a congenital narrowing of the aortic lumen that generally occurs distally from the origin of the left subclavian artery. It is of great importance because it predisposes to cardiovascular conditions at an early age, resulting in high morbidity and mortality. We report the first case in Costa Rica of endovascular repair of aortic coarctation utilizing stent grafting with adenosine induced cardiac arrest. The patient tolerated the procedure well and her post-procedure gradient was <5 mmHg. Her blood pressure is 100/60mmHg and she has no limitations or residual symptomatology.
