Focus and Scope

The Agronomía Costarricense Magazine is a biannual publication edited and financed by the Vice-Rector's Office for Research of the University of Costa Rica, it works with the support of professionals from the University of Costa Rica, the College of Agricultural Engineers and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock that make up its Editorial Board.
The objective of the Costa Rican Agronomy Magazine since its creation in 1977 has been to publish, make visible and facilitate access to agricultural and forestry research with topics of interest and current scientific news in the agricultural sector.

Post Types

    * Original and unpublished research works, which have scientific or technical merit in the opinion of the Editorial Board.
    * Articles.
    * Technical notes, which are advances or parallel results of ongoing research.
    * Analysis and comments on relevant topics, requested from specialists.
    * Comprehensive literature reviews on a specific topic.
    * Book reviews.

Peer Review Process

The works published in the Costa Rican Agronomy Magazine are the result of a rigorous selection, by the Editorial Board in the first instance and the arbitration carried out by national and international specialists, through the double-blind peer review system. The estimated review time is 4 weeks.
Once the Editorial Board previously evaluates the scientific or technical merit of the works, they are sent with the evaluation instrument to national and international specialists. The opinion may issue the following criteria

    *The document is accepted without reservation
    * Accepted only if observations are included
    *Not entirely accepted for publication

In the event that there is a controversy between the evaluations carried out for the same document, it is submitted to another review by new specialists whose evaluation determines the final result to publish or not. If the document is accepted, it is classified into one of the following categories. :

    * Article
    * Technical note
    * Others: Analysis and commentary, literature review, book reviews

The editor, together with those who make up the Editorial Board of the Costa Rican Agronomy Magazine, determine whether the documentation presented for possible publication is accepted or rejected.

Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate free access to its content under the principle of making research available and free to the public, which encourages greater exchange of global knowledge. It is licensed with Creative Commons Atribución-NoComercial-SinDerivar 4.0 Internacional

Its abbreviated title is Agron. Costarricense, and it should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic strips.

The author or authors must authorize in writing to Revista Agronomía Costarricense the right to its publication and mention, which will be registered with the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 4.0 International license and retain all rights; In addition, they may include their publication in an institutional repository, clarifying its publication in the first instance in the Revista Agronomía Costarricense.

Once the volume for the respective period is published, you can access the digital version, which allows you to manage a self-archive of the document or documents of interest, on the site selected by the author.
The main author must attest in writing that the information presented is original and has not been published in any other medium. Furthermore, from the moment you submit the documentation, you must have authorization from the institution where the research was carried out.
