Abstract

SANCHEZ-AVILA, Alejandra. Challenges for the training of mathematics teachers in Costa Rica. Innovaciones Educativas [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.34, pp.209-212. ISSN 2215-4132.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22458/ie.v23i24.3585.

The 2012 curricular reform for the teaching and learning of mathematics in Costa Rica at the elementary and secondary level, produced changes in some of the training plans for teachers. In addition, the latest research carried out for the State of Education Reports indicates deficiencies in mathematics classroom practices. During the pandemic of the virus responsible for COVID-19, weaknesses are evident in the attention of the student in distance and virtual mode. For these reasons, there are four challenges that propose a new review of these study plans by the universities and the assessment of the use of the printed textbook by the Ministry of Public Education.
