Abstract

MAYLLE PAIMA, Alexandra  and  AVILA TARMA, Pedro Enrique. Elaboration of a mix design for the stabilization of soil with asphalt emulsion type CSS-1h and recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) based on the modified Marshall procedure. Infraestructura Vial [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.44, pp.1-17. ISSN 2215-3705.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15517/iv.v25i44.53441.

The rehabilitation of deteriorated pavements requires various natural and economic resources. Given this problem, this research aimed to elaborate a mix design to stabilize recycled soil with asphalt emulsion type CSS-1h, using the modified Marshall design method. This study analyzed the influence of the percentage of asphalt emulsion (3,0 % to 6,0 %) regarding the physical and mechanical properties of the stabilized soil according to the parameters required by the Peruvian road manual EG-2013.

The results show that with a dosage of 4,8 % of asphalt emulsion and 2,88 % of asphalt residue, the best performance is achieved compared to the other percentages proposed, obtaining a maximum stability of 980 kg, exceeding the minimum value of 227 kg established by the regulations. It was concluded that with the aforementioned dosage a stable asphalt mixture is obtained with which the deteriorated pavement can be stabilized to withstand medium vehicular traffic.
