Abstract

This article analyses the impact of the project “Etapa Básica de Música de la Universidad de Costa Rica, Sede del Atlántico, Recinto Turrialba” on the evolution of the region’s musical culture. Starting from a social historic event such as the introduction of the Banda Municipal de Turrialba in the early 20th century and the development of the Compañía Lírica Turrialbeña, emphasizing the region’s musical development and aiming for a more active environment, in which every day the number of well-trained musicians increases by giving them the possibility to reach a higher level on the field of education, as instrument players, researchers, composers and conductors.
