Abstract

-VALLADARES, Javier Tapia. Reflection and moral motivation. Three studies with young Costa Rican. InterSedes [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.32, pp.195-209. ISSN 2215-2458.

In this essay it's exposed conceptual elements of cognitive-developmental model of moral psychology from Piaget to Kohlberg through until Gibbs approach. Based on this overview of concepts, syntheses of three empirical studies, set out in Costa Rica are presented. Then, it's proposed a research results synthetic view, obtained in these studies. In this way the essay seeks to provide a specific emphasis on those results. Finally, some relevant points of view from the synthesized studies are contrasted with cognitive-developmental model concepts, trying to emphasize the contribution they can offer, for understanding the moral psychological development of young people in Costa Rican context. Thus, it is highlighted the importance of moral reflection and motivation in young people development, in connection with Costa Rican society process of change.
