Abstract

HUTT- HERRERA, Harold. Dual courses design on the framework of a global strategy. InterSedes [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.31, pp.163-179. ISSN 2215-2458.

Within the framework of an International Strategy, the Communication School at Universidad de Costa Rica has been strengthening efforts on the implementation of methodologies to promote academic exchange with different universities around the world. As a part of the methodological tools that have been used for this purpose, professors have been working on the "Dual Courses" designs, with the aim to implement joint courses that can be planned and implemented among peers from different universities, with the objective to promote student multicultural exchanges that contribute with their professional and personal growth. Finally, this paper share the experience developed between UCR and Kansas State University, last January 2014, organizing together a "Dual Course" called "Tourism and Communication". The course's objectives were to learn about communication and the tourism industry in general and in Costa Rica as a case study and to identify communication needs of small rural touristic enterprises, so that mixed groups of Costa Rican and Kansas students propose communication strategies and tools for them. In addition, this paper presents the feedback information obtained from the students evaluation forms at the end of the course.
