Abstract
ALVARADO - BOIRIVANT, Jorge. Modelo de optimización para un asentamiento agrícola en La Cruz de Guanacaste, Costa Rica: Optimization Model for an agricultural settlement in La Cruz, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. InterSedes [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.29, pp.19-42. ISSN 2215-2458.
This study attempts to contribute to poverty reduction by applying a model that will enhance the farmers and their families` profits which will bring about a chain effect with other PYMES that provide processing of primary farming products. The proposed model is an attempt to break the cycle of rural poverty so that farm producers may eventually have better income to increase investment and job opportunities for poor families. It also implies better access to food, education, health, clothing, entertainment, and quality of life. The methodology used in this research opens the way and may orient further similar research in other farming organizations from the rural sector. Thus, the study becomes a valuable tool to sustain and inform the adoption of future policies in this sector.
