Abstract

The present article shows a detail of the main consulting reasons for attending students in the psychology service office of the Sede del Atlántico during the 2011 year. Such systematization has let to identify the principal topic lines in regard to the mental health that the students of the Atlantic campus live with. The article also presents a reflection about health as a psychosocial construction and analysis of the high presence in students of symptomatology related to psychosomatic illnesses and the underlying emotional factors, in which the body becomes a way to express emotional malaise and a place where the individual being and the collective entity contend. Finally, some lines are shown to appeal the academic role as a mean to build the mental health and the public official play to consolidate a more human interchange.
