Abstract

ROMEU, Jorge Luis. Analysis of the Vision of some Europeans on the Autochthonous Obediences of Cuba and Puerto Rico at the end of the XIX Century. REHMLAC [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.1, pp.95-113. ISSN 1659-4223.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15517/rehmlac.v10i1.32105.

Autochthonous obediences in Cuba and Puerto Rico, during the mid-19th Century, have been studied by several European historians in academia, especially from Spain, as well as by a few from these islands. The perception of these two groups of historians differs regarding the interpretation and exclusion of three main events. In this paper we analyze and contrast such differences and argue their respective merits.

Keywords : Autochthonous Freemasons; XIX Century; Cuba; Puerto Rico.
