Abstract

ARTIOLI ROLIM, Carmem Lucia. Hospital education: a matter of right. Rev. Actual. Investig. Educ [online]. 2019, vol.19, n.1, pp.700-719. ISSN 1409-4703.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15517/aie.v19i1.35600.

This essay aims to consider about the learning spaces for children in hospital care. It has as cornerstone the sociocultural perspective in order to develop a theoretical discussion of qualitative approach questioning hospital and school environments. Throughout the study development, discussions have revealed historical and cultural aspects concerning the movement of judging, condemning, stigmatizing a person affected by a disease, explaining, thus, processes valorizing someone experiencing illness. During analysis, it was observed that in the context of sickness, many times, education is no longer considered as necessary and healthcare takes a single role. This movement denotes a rupture between hospital and school contexts, as if both were mutually excluding. As the learning space is subtracted of a child experiencing hospital internment, a path through segregation procedures is created, printing deeper, on children, the weight of the disease. This situation unveils the relevance of hospital education, because even facing a disease, the right of education development still being crucial and must be offered.

Keywords : educational rights; hospital pedagogy; childhood.
