Abstract

This essay, product of the review of several scientific articles, is to support the importance of Emotional Intelligence (EI) in the training of researchers. To accomplish the previous goal, first the scientific work is presented as a cognitive and emotional process developing the phases where emotional factors influence the academic labor; then the relationships that contribute to the development of any research project are analyzed. Next, it is exposed how the emotional competences proposed by the mixed model of Goleman are studied as a tool that can help in the research process. , the different skills of EI model proposed by Mayer & Salovey are analyzed as a key element in the scientific work. In the fifth section several recommendations to promote EI in the training of researchers are proposed. Finally, in the conclusions, the relevance of EI in training researchers is developed.
