Great changes and challenges in higher education especially about how to teach become an important issue in the pedagogical mediation. The teacher becomes a facilitator of the teaching-learning process and their main concern should be beyond the discipline. This research analyzes the teaching skills of teachers from Bio Bio University from the perspective of both academics and students. The information was obtained through a questionnaire which was built considering results from previous qualitative research also conducted in this higher education institution. Among the main results it was found that there are differences in the prioritization of skills which are necessary for a proper execution of the teaching labor. The study concludes that, students considers the most important aspect is a pleasant classroom atmosphere, while for teachers is the responsibility to prepare the necessary conditions to perform a course.
