Abstract

This paper reports a study aimed at understanding the actions observed both students training to teach mathematics and its teaching, depending on the system of beliefs about the teaching of mathematics, learning or evaluation of their learning. These students are studying in an Integral Education in Pedagogical University which was the context for empirically validate a set of theoretical principles through field work descriptive-interpretive component as described in an ethnographic study. With the information obtained through observations and interviews were interpreted and confirmed actions, among other things, that the belief system of these actors impacts their actions, noting that: (a) teachers still tied to the model concept-example-exercises without inviting students to solve problems or requesting the use of prior knowledge, and (b) students have unfavorable attitudes towards mathematics and aversion also think it boring, complex and difficult to understand.
