Abstract
LOZANO ANDRADE, Inés. Debates and tensions in teacher training: notes for a sociology of training. Rev. Actual. Investig. Educ [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.1, pp.274-293. ISSN 1409-4703.
The aim of this essay is to discuss the phenomenon of training, which has become a very important concept for different professional fields, especially the field of education, since it is considered a vital element for the development of a country. This is where teacher training becomes a central issue. States are concerned about the training of teachers through various school processes with the belief that this will generate positive changes. Nevertheless, the results have not been what were expected. Consequently, we wonder whether the different institutionally promoted models of teacher training such as initial, continuous, etc., are best suited to achieve these purposes. Relevant literature shows training goes beyond formal education processes, thus it is necessary to discuss, understand, and grasp it in its broadest human sense, as well as in its historical and political essence. This text contributes to this debate: what is training?, when and why does it emerge?, is there only one kind of training or should more be considered? These are some of the questions discussed in this essay.
