Resumen

ALVARADO-SOTO, Natalia  y  ABARCA-BONILLA, Viviana. Attention to the student population with disabilities facing barriers to learning in Costa Rica during the 2020 pandemic. Espiga [online]. 2024, vol.23, n.47, pp.216-248. ISSN 2215-454X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22458/re.v23i47.5292.

The article presents the results of a research conducted between 2020 and 2022 by two tutors from the Chair of Psychopedagogy at the Distance State University of Costa Rica. The aim was to analyze the attention received by the student population with disabilities facing barriers to learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and the strategies used by teaching staff to guide families in supporting this population. Methodologically, the research adopted a qualitative approach, primarily using semi-structured interviews with 20 teachers and 20 families from 12 public primary institutions in the Greater Metropolitan Area. The study reveals that the pandemic had an impact on the learning process of students with disabilities, who encountered barriers due to difficulties in identifying and implementing virtual pedagogical strategies suitable for each student's condition based on their disability.
