This paper proposes a differentiation of the terms "magical realism" and «real marvelous» to, from this, make a critical comment on the relevance of both terms as representative of the Latin American reality. It is concluded that the possibility of the marvel is nothing more than an aesthetic interpretation of the Latin American reality perceived by certain authors and that to consider it a fundamental part of said reality responds to an alienating distancing.
