The aim of this work is to present and justify the proemato as a hybrid literary genre from different literary positions, through the analysis and comparison of some poetic and short narrative texts with the proematos of the Costa Rican writer Jorhan Chaverri. Characteristics are established that allow differentiating the proemato from other genres and styles of literary writing, which supports the conclusion that it is a (hybrid) genre that comes from the combination of poetry, narrative and micronarrative, but at the same time distinguished from them.
