BONILLA, Msc. Jonathan Cordero. Reflections on geographic space from the philosophy of liberation, by Enrique Dussel. Rev. Geog. Amer. Central [online]. 2025, n.75, pp.15-44. Epub 19-Jun-2025. ISSN 2215-2563. http://dx.doi.org/10.15359/rgac.75-2.1.
This essay explores the notion of geographic space in the philosophy of liberation from an epistemological perspective. It is analyzed how Enrique Dussel approaches spatiality from geopolitics and the critique of political economy in the constitution of totality and exteriority, key categories of philosophy. A dialogue is brought up with critical and decolonial geography, which allows us to question the idea of geographic space from the idea of modern territory, which invisibilizes and dehumanizes the Other and its alternative ways of thinking and creating territory. The reflection seeks to collaborate theoretically with a committed and liberating geography of space, capable of recognizing the world of others, their life, their configurations and territorial struggles, as in the case of Centroamérica, with migrant people, the original pueblos in the defense of the land and spatiality in marginal conditions in urbanity.
