This article, thanks to the providential testimony of Carlos Enrique Rivera, the only survivor of the Circle of Poets of Turrialba, captures the genesis of Marco Aguilar as a poet, while the author highlights how a potential chess player chose poetry as a profession. The author also reveals unknown aspects of the modus operandi of the Circle, which in 1958 shook the foundations of poetry in Costa Rica
