ASCONDO, Josu et al. Physical Activity Practice and Health Perception of Physically Active People with Disabilities. MHSalud [online]. 2025, vol.22, n.1, pp.56-87.  Epub 31-Mar-2025. ISSN 1659-097X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15359/mhs.22-1.17632.

Objective:

The aim of this study was to analyze the level of physical activity (PA) and the perception of health in people with disabilities, as well as to identify possible differences according to sex.

Method:

52 people with disabilities (32 women and 20 men) participated and the Physical Activity Scale for Individuals with Physical Disabilities (PASIPD) and the SF-36 questionnaires were used to analyze the level of practice and the perception of health, respectively.

Results:

The results show that the participants have an adequate level of PA practice and a moderate perception of health. Regarding gender differences, no significant differences were found in terms of level of PA practice, however men showed a better health perception than women in several of the items (p < 0.05).

Conclusions:

The present study shows that those people immersed in a physical activity program or who do some kind of sport reach the recommended levels of PA practice, without finding significant differences between men and women.
