Abstract

This article focuses its analysis on State’s finances between 1898 and 1910 paying particular interest on the funding of the security forces and then comparing their numbers to those of the Secretary of Public Education. Its objective is to unveil how the following institutions and departments use their budgets: the standing army, the judicial and military polices, military bands, navy and prisons. Finally, this piece argues on those statistics to connect them to the consolidation of the liberaldemocratic State
