Arteriovenous malformations (AVM) are abnormal communications between arteries and veins without an intervening capillary bed. Malformation nidus contains a tangled mass of vessels. These malformations can be asymptomatic or present with intracerebral hemorrhages or seizures. Bleeding usually preceded by a sudden onset of severe headache and can be fatal.
