HSIEH, Shang Wu. Los delitos sexuales: conceptos, valoración médico legal e incidencia de las denuncias por delito sexual valorados en el departamento de medicina legal en el año 2011. Med. leg. Costa Rica [online]. 2013, vol.30, n.2, pp.02-12. ISSN 2215-5287.
The sexual crimes have their chapter in the Law 4573 of the Penalty Code of Costa Rica and some articles have been upgraded thanks to The Law against Child Sexual Exploitation which is the Law 7899. The forensic medical service for the examination of a sexual crime victim or the person accused is based on an interrogation, clothes examination, physical exam, gynecological exam, anal examination, laboratory exams and the crime scene investigation. From January to December 2011, in the Legal Medicine Department, a total of 2282 cases of sex crime accusations have been received and the Clínica Médico Forense got the first place in the number of accusations received as well as San Carlos received the least number of accusations for sex crimes. But if we compare the number of sex crime accusation with the number of persons affiliated to each Legal Medicine Unit, we can see that Liberia got the first place. From May to June of the year 2011 were the months with more number of sex crime accusations received in this department.
