Sexual crimes are attended by the Departamento de Medicina Legal for a medical clinic and psychiatric psychological evaluation with the purpose to determine the presence of physical and emotional injuries and credibility of the victim. This study of sexual crimes took place using the cases attended by the Consejo Médico Forense in the 1997-1998 period. A total of 39 cases were registered and 74% correspond to female victims. The predominant age range of both sexes is 6-14 years, this is in 69.22% of the cases, 87.15% of the summoned sexual crimes dealt with rape and dishonest abuses, and it is important to point out that incest is included in qualified rape and qualified dishonest abuses. In 24.13% of the cases, the stepfather was the offender, 14% an uncle, and 10.34% the father. The length of the abuse, in 66.08% of the cases, was chronic. The predominant symptoms is the emotional and conductual, present in 69% of the cases, and the physic in 28% of the cases. 42% of the summons corresponded to question the victims credibility.
