<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.sa.cr/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0377-94242019000200043&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.sa.cr/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0377-94242019000200043&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.sa.cr/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0377-94242019000200043&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Se evaluaron 7 nuevas gramíneas forra- jeras de reciente introducción a Colombia, con el fin de cuantificar su potencial productivo e identificar aquellas de mejor comportamiento como potenciales fuentes de forraje para los sis- temas ganaderos de la región Caribe. El estudio se llevó a cabo bajo condiciones de campo en fincas de productores, en 3 localidades de las sabanas secas del Caribe, en Colombia, donde se evaluó el comportamiento productivo y la calidad nutricional de las gramíneas forrajeras mediante cortes sucesivos o cosechas, realizadas durante un periodo de 12 meses, tanto en época de llu- vias (mayo a noviembre), como en época seca (diciembre a abril). Los resultados permitieron la selección de 6 gramíneas, que por producción y calidad del forraje podrían implementarse en los sistemas ganaderos de las sabanas secas del Caribe, entre los que sobresale especialmente el genotipo CIAT6799 (Megathyrsus maximus) con rendimientos promedios que fluctuaron entre 4128,8 kg.ha-1.corte-1 de MS en época de lluvias y 1200,7 kg.ha-1.corte-1 de MS en época seca, con lo cual supera ampliamente a la pastura de mayor uso en las sabanas B. pertusa cv. Colosuana. El contenido de proteína de CIAT6799 fue de 8,95% y la digestibilidad in situ fue de 57,05%. Con base en estos resultados, en posteriores trabajos los genotipos sobresalientes fueron sometidos a pruebas de evaluación agronómica y producto de esta evaluación se registró el nuevo genotipo CIAT6799 con el nombre comercial de &#8220;Agrosa- via Sabanera,&#8221; el cual se convirtió en una nueva opción para ser utilizada por los ganaderos de la región Caribe en Colombia.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT In these experiments, seven new kinds of forage grass, recently introduced to Colombia, were evaluated in order to quantify their productive potential and identify those with better performance as potential forage sources for the livestock production systems of the Caribbean Region in Colombia. The study was carried out under field conditions in farms of producers, in three locations of the dry savannas of the Caribbean, in Colombia, where the productive performance and the nutritional quality of the forage grasses were evaluated during a period of 12 months by means of harvested cuts, made both during the rainy and dry season. The results allowed selection by production and forage quality 6 grasses, which could be implemented in the livestock production systems of the dry savannas of the Caribbean, among which stands out especially the genotype CIAT6799 (Megathyrsus maximus) with average yields that was 4128.8 kg.ha-1.cut-1 of DM in the rainy season and 1200.7 kg.ha-1.cut-1 of DM in dry season, which far exceeds the pasture of greater use in the dry savannas B. pertusa cv. Colosuana. The average protein content of CIAT6799 was 8.95% and in situ digestibility was 57.05%. Based on these results, in later work, the outstanding genotypes were subjected to agronomic evaluation tests and the genotype CIAT6799 was registered under the commercial name of &#8220;Agrosavia Sabanera,&#8221; becoming a new option to be used by the farmers of the Caribbean Region in Colombia.]]></p></abstract>
