Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completos al azar con 4 tratamientos que correspondieron a niveles de suplementación de SDP: 0, 10, 20 y 30%. Se utilizaron 16 cabras con un peso promedio de 47,1±6,2 kg. Se llevó un registro diario del alimento ofrecido y rechazado, y se analizó el contenido nutricional de las dietas; adicionalmente, se pesó la producción diaria de leche individualmente y se analizó el contenido de grasa y proteína. La dieta con 0% SDP presentó la mayor concentración de materia seca (43,78%) (p&lt;0,05) y no se observaron diferencias significativas (p&gt;0,05) en cuanto a la concentración de proteína cruda (PC), carbohidratos no fibrosos (CNF), fibra detergente neutro (FND) y cenizas (CEN) para las diferentes dietas. Los animales del grupo control (0% SDP) consumieron en promedio 5,42 kg de materia fresca y los consumos de los otros grupos oscilaron entre 3,81 y 4,81 kg. Los animales, en la dieta control, consumieron la mayor cantidad de materia seca (2,40 kg) y obtuvieron los mayores consumos de materia seca (p&lt;0,05) en relación con el peso vivo (4,58%). Se encontraron diferencias significativas (p&lt;0,05) para el consumo de PC, CNF, FND, EE (Extracto etéreo) y CEN, en las cuales, el grupo de animales en la dieta control, consumió la mayor cantidad de nutrientes (p&lt;0,05). La producción de leche diaria fue significativamente mayor (p&lt;0,05) para aquellas cabras alimentadas con una inclusión de 10 y 30% de SDP en la dieta (1,26 y 1,22 kg respectivamente). No se encontraron diferencias significativas (p&gt;0,05) para la concentración de proteína en la leche, sin embargo, el porcentaje de grasa en la leche de las cabras alimentadas con 20 de SDP mostró mayor concentración (4,73%) en comparación con los animales que consumieron la otras dietas (p&lt;0,05). Los animales que consumieron las dietas con una inclusión de 10 y 30% de SDP mostraron mayor producción de proteína y grasa (p&lt;0,05).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of supplementing fresh pineapple byproducts (SDP) to lactating dairy goats, on feed intake, milk production and milk composition, under humid tropic conditions of Costa Rica. A complete randomized block design was used with 4 treatments which corresponded to levels of SDP supplementation: 0, 10, 20 and 30%. Sixteen goats with an average body weight of 47.1±6.2 kg were used. A daily record of feed offered and rejected was taken, and the nutritional content of the diets was analyzed. Additionally, daily milk production was recorded individually and the fat and protein content was analyzed. The diet with 0% SDP had the highest dry matter (DM) concentration (43.78%) (p&lt;0.05) and no significant differences (p&gt;0.05) were observed regarding Cudre Protein (CP), Non fibrpus carbohydrates (NFC), Neutral detergent fiber (NDF) or Ash concentration for the different diets. Animals for the control group (0% SDP) consumed on average 5.42 kg of fresh material and intake for the other groups ranged from 3.81 and 4.81 kg. Animals in the control diet had the highest DMI (2.40 kg) and obtained the highest DMI (DM increment) (p&lt;0.05) in relation to their body weight (4.58%). Significant differences were found (p&lt;0.05) for CP, NFC, NDF, EE (etheric extract) and ashes intake, being that animals in the control diet consumed the greatest amount of nutrients (p&lt;0.05). Daily milk production was significantly higher (p&lt;0.05) for those goats fed with an inclusion of 10 and 30% SDP in the diet (1.26 and 1.22, respectively). No significant differences were found (p&gt;0.05) for milk protein concentration; however, milk fat concentration in goats fed with 20% SDP was highest (4.73%) in comparison with animals in the other groups (p&lt;0.05).
