<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.sa.cr/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0256-70242020000100102&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.sa.cr/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0256-70242020000100102&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.sa.cr/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0256-70242020000100102&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen En el presente estudio se realiza un cálculo de la relación que existe entre la aceleración pico efectiva (aef) y la aceleración pico del terreno (PGA), utilizando la base de registros acelerográficos del Laboratorio de Ingeniería Sísmica de la Universidad de Costa Rica, con registros de eventos entre 1983 y 2019. Se analizan 5 casos específicos, para lo cual se emplean dos criterios en la selección de los registros: i) 2 niveles de aceleración horizontal máxima (2cm/s2 y 100cm/s2) y ii) la tecnología de los equipos que registraron el movimiento (Analógico, Digital o una combinación). Los resultados muestran que existe influencia en los valores medios de la relación aef /PGA, al variar la tecnología de los equipos, sin embargo, no se observan variaciones significativas relacionadas con los límites de aceleración mínima empleados. Se recomienda emplear un valor de la relación de 0,870 en lugar del valor actualmente empleado de 0,800.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract In the present study, a calculation of the relationship between the effective peak acceleration (aef) and the peak ground acceleration (PGA) is made. The database of accelerographic records of the Earthquake Engineering Laboratory of the University of Costa Rica, with events recorded between 1983 and 2019 was used. Five specific cases are analyzed. Two criteria are used in the selection of the records: i) 2 levels of maximum horizontal acceleration (2cm/s2 and 100cm/s2) and ii) the technology of the equipment that recorded the movement (Analog, Digital or a combination). The results show that there is an influence on the average values of the af /PGA ratio, as the equipment technology varies, however, there are no significant variations related to the acceleration limits used. It is recommended that a ratio value of 0,870 be used instead of the currently used value of 0,800.]]></p></abstract>
