Objetivo: evaluar el efecto de dos tasas de drenaje sobre el rendimiento y la calidad de pepino (cv. Modan) de invernadero en las épocas seca y lluviosa. Métodos: Utilizamos &#8220;fertirrigación&#8221; y fibra de coco como sustrato. Resultados: En todas las categorías de calidad, no hubo diferencias entre dosis de riego para el número de frutos por m2, peso de frutos y rendimiento; mientras que el porcentaje de sólidos solubles totales fue mayor al 10% de riego. Los pepinos de época lluviosa tuvieron más frutos totales por m2; mayor peso de frutos comerciales; y mejor rendimiento total, de segunda y tercera calidad. Conclusión: En estas condiciones, una tasa de riego del 10% ahorrará agua y nutrientes, y aumentará la rentabilidad del cultivo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Introduction: Drainage rate is an important factor in hydroponic production. Objective: to evaluate the effect of two drainage rates on the yield and quality of cucumber (cv. Modan) under greenhouse conditions in the dry and rainy seasons. Methods: We used fertigation and coconut fiber as substrate. Results: In all quality categories, there were no statistically significant differences between irrigation rates for the number of fruits per m2, fruit weight and yield; while the percentage of total soluble solids was higher at 10% irrigation. The rainy season cucumbers had more total fruits per m2; commercial fruit weight; and total, second and third quality yield. Conclusion: For this conditions, a 10% irrigation rate will save water and nutrients, and increase crop profitability.]]></p></abstract>
