Moringa oleifera Lam. es un árbol caducifolio de crecimiento perenne ontogenérico al crecimiento de las arbustivas. Moringa es el único género de la familia Moringaceae, los principales estudios de la especie olerifera se centran en la producción de forraje y muy pocos en la producción de semillas. Objetivo. Evaluar densidades de siembra y cosechas sucesivas para la producción de semillas de variedades de M. oleifera Lam, en un ecosistema degradado por la sequía estacional en Valle del Cauto, provincia Granma, Cuba. Materiales y métodos. El estudio se desarrolló del 2016 al 2018 en bancos de semillas de la Estación Experimental de Pastos y Forrajes (20º 27' 52,1&#8221; N 76º 40&#8217;47&#8221; O) del Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias &#8220;Jorge Dimitrov&#8221;, Cuba, mediante un diseño de bloques al azar en arreglo factorial con cuatro repeticiones, para un total de 64 tratamientos resultantes de la combinación entre densidad de siembra (4), variedades de M. oleifera (4) y número de cosechas (4). Las variables consideradas fueron: número de semillas por fruto, número de frutos por planta, longitud de frutos, peso de 100 semillas y rendimiento de semillas. Resultados. La variedad Criolla y Supergenius fueron las de mayor producción de semillas (p&#8804;0,01) (0,67 y 0,71 t ha-1, respectivamente), en la segunda cosecha en julio de 2017, respecto al resto de las cosechas y variedades en estudio. La variedad Supergenius aportó los mayores valores en el número de semillas/fruto, número de frutos/planta y longitud de los frutos/planta con 18,23, 32,08 y 49,18 cm, respectivamente. Conclusión. Las variedades de M. oleifera en estudio no tuvieron diferencias en el potencial de producción de semillas, la densidad de siembra no tuvo efecto, solo la realización de cosechas sucesivas cada seis meses condicionó una diferenciación en la producción de semillas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Introduction. Moringa oleifera Lam. . it is a deciduous tree with perennial growth ontogeneric to the growth of shrubs. Moringa is the only genus of the Moringaceae family. The main studies of the species olerifera focus on forage production, and very few on seed production. Objective. To evaluate sowing densities and successive harvests for seed production of M. oleifera Lam varieties, in an ecosystem degraded by the seasonal drought in Cauto Valley, Granma province, Cuba. Materials and methods. The study was carried out from 2016 to 2018 in seed banks of the Pastures and Forages Experimental Station (20º 27'52.1&#8221; N 76º 40&#8217;47&#8221; W) of the &#8220;Jorge Dimitrov&#8221; Agricultural Research Institute, Cuba, through a randomized block design in factorial arrangement with four replications, for a total of 64 treatments resulting from the combination of sowing density (4), varieties of M. oleifera (4), and number of harvests (4). The variables considered were: number of seeds per fruit, number of fruits per plant, fruit length, 100-seeds weight, and seed yield. Results. The Criolla and Supergenius varieties had the highest seed yield (p&#8804;0.01) (0.67 and 0.71 t ha-1, respectively), in the second harvest in July 2017, compared to the rest of the harvests and varieties under study. The Supergenius variety provided the highest values in the number of seeds/fruit, number of fruits/plant, and fruits length/plant with 18,23, 32,08, and 49,18 cm, respectively. Conclusion. The varieties of M. oleifera under study had no differences in seed production potential, sowing density had not effect, only successive harvests every six months conditioned a differentiation in seed production.]]></p></abstract>
