Familia Sciaenidae - corvinas

 
Corvula macrops,
corvina ojona - Cuerpo con líneas oscuras tenues; dientes mandibulares no agrandados; mentón sin pigmento negro. (UCR 382-30, 14 cm CC).

Odontoscion xanthops, cococha – Cuerpo con líneas oscuras tenues; dientes mandibulares agrandados, mentón un poco salido y color negro. (UCR 618-14, 16 cm CC).

Umbrina xanti, polla rayada – Una barba en el mentón; ojo tamaño normal; líneas oscuras prominentes sobre las 3/4 partes superiores del cuerpo. (UCR 862-1, 14 cm CC, IC).

Pareques viola, corvina listada – Segunda aleta dorsal muy larga; segunda espina anal delgada y curva; mentón con varios poros grandes; líneas horizontales a lo largo del cuerpo. Los juveniles con coloración y tamaño de la aleta dorsal diferentes. (UCR 433-29, 7 cm; UCR 618-16, 14 cm CC).

Odontoscion xanthops, yelloweye croaker – Body with faint dark stripes; jaw teeth enlarged; chin black.

Umbrina xanti, golden croaker – A single barbel below chin; eye normal; prominent black stripes on upper 3/4 of body.

Pareques viola, lined drum – Second dorsal fin very long; second anal-fin spine thin and curved; chin with several large pores; horizontal stripes along body. Juveniles with longer dorsal fin and different coloration.
