The blind snake Leptotyphlops goudotti inhabit the dryforests of northwestern Pacific lowlands of Costa Rica, but has not been reported in the insular area of this region. In may 1999, an adult specimen was collected in San José Island (Murciélagos Islands 10 51' N, 85 55' W), in the Peninsula of Santa Elena in Guanacaste province. The specimen was deposited in the University of Costa Rica Museum of Zoology (UCR-14125). We thank to Federico Bolaños, Gerardo Chaves and Federico Valverde for the facilities in the Museum of Zoology of the University of Costa Rica.
