JORGE-NAVARRO, Marcelo  y  SANCHEZ-ENRIQUE, Daniela. Education, child labor and human rights in northwestern Argentina. Educación [online]. 2019, vol.43, n.1, pp.597-617.  Epub 01-Jun-2019. ISSN 2215-2644.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15517/revedu.v43i1.26611.

The province of Salta is characterized by its wide production diversity in economic matters. In the agricultural sector, it is highlighted the production of tobacco and sugar. Both productions are developed in disparate geographical contexts, with a strong presence in rural communities that based their subsistence on the agricultural production and rural family work. In this context a lot of children and young people, are faced with the need to divide their time and activities between school and family work. This article aims to analyze the impact of rural child labor in school careers of children and adolescents (hereinafter NNA) of the province of Salta, in northwestern Argentina, from the perspective of human rights and visualize the tension between the protective standards and standard practices. The research hypothesis presumes that the rural child labor affect in a negative way the school career of children and adolescents at the primary level, their right to quality education, development and equal opportunities. In this sense, the methodology used analyzes the right of access to education linked to factors of social license and possible causes of naturalization of child labor in rural contexts, the central valleys of Salta, from documentary sources, based on statistics OIT, UNESCO and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of the Nation.
