This paper deals with some common resources in the adoption and validation of terms, which for some social reason are part of the lexical inventory of the language varieties of a language community. It presents an analysis of certain social discourses that have the ability to legitimize the use of forms, real or fictitious, are considered part of the functional repertoires to express social realities. From the study of choferesa noun, the social function of legitimating dictionaries and newspaper column in the configuration of the Costa Rican Spanish.
