The article proposes an interpretation of surrealism in the poetic piece "Manifiesto Olvidado" (Forgotten Manifest), written by Mario Picado Umaña and published by Editorial Costa Rica in 1989, as part of literary output that shows the importance of the avant-garde style and the experimentation with the language.

This collection of poems extracts from the surrealism certain characteristics and metaphors, that are very important in the development of his literary production; the article include some of the poems of the author and it will establish the coordinates to find the relationship between his poetry and the historical movement.
