Resumen

MEDINA GALLO, César Eduardo. Spatial diffusion of devotion to toribio Romo by Mexican migrants to the United States. Rev. Geog. Amer. Central [online]. 2024, n.72, pp.241-268. ISSN 2215-2563.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15359/rgac.72-1.9.

The spatial diffusion of the devotion to Toribio Romo has intensified due to the migration of Mexicans to the United States. It will be discussed how, from the experience of mobility of believing migrants, the devotion to the saint extends to new territories and believers across different geographical scales, influenced by historical and socio-cultural contexts, which are reinforced and establish connections with their places of origin through religious practices and traditions through the image of Toribio Romo. To achieve this purpose, a bibliographical review of the spatial diffusion is presented to explain the expansion of the devotion. Additionally, the expansion of the devotion between Mexico and the United States will be mapped through fieldwork conducted under the methodology of multi-sited ethnography.

Palabras clave : spatial diffusion; Toribio Romo; migration; religious practices.
