ROJAS-SOLANO, Jennifer; BRENES-GAMBOA, Saúl y ABARCA-MONGE, Sergio. Carbon in the soil: comparison between a pasture area and a forest. InterSedes [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.47, pp.184-205. ISSN 2215-2458. http://dx.doi.org/10.15517/isucr.v23i47.47695.
The objective was determining the amount of carbon that floor grasses contribute with respect to a forest. The study was carried in Turrialba, Costa Rica. It was evaluated: concentration of carbon, organic carbon, apparent density and organic matter. The forest captured and stored more carbon than the grasses, but the bulk density of the soil was lower in the grasses. In the grass C. nlemfuensis, it obtained the highest values for the concentration of carbon and aerial biomass.
