QUESADA-VILLALOBOS, Patricia. Identity elements of the western zone of Costa Rica present in ten stories about goblins, scares and apparitions. InterSedes [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.40, pp.218-230. ISSN 2215-2458.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15517/isucr.v20i40.35663.

This article analyzes different identitary elements in ten texts written from a corpus of recordings, which was carried out through interviews with different informants from the canton of San Ramón, Alajuela, Costa Rica. The stories are related to characters such as elves or witches and some appearances of monsters, souls or magical objects. However, from the analysis of the stories, aspects such as the importance of religion, customs of the time, meals, some historical facts relevant to the history of the country, forms of entertainment, among others, denote different cultural manifestations that characterize the history of rural towns in the western region of Costa Rica.
