BRENES - G, Cristian; VARGAS - Z, Jorge e ABARCA - M., Sergio. Modeling an information system to manage dairies in Turrialba, Costa Rica . InterSedes [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.29, pp.41-54. ISSN 2215-2458.
This article aims to identify the actors, activities and events that interact around farming milk production in Turrialba, which serves as input in modeling an information system for the management and control of this activity. This proposal is considered of importance, since milk production and its derivatives has been one of the economic activities that characterized this regional area nationally, beyond their volume production for the quality of its products, which has provided a tendency to its favor in local and national markets. However, a number of factors interact in this activity and these should be monitored comprehensively and the reality is that the producer lacks significant computing tools that will facilitate decision-making. This article was created as an initiative of the Extension Teaching Project ED-2742 from the University of Costa Rica, “Inclusion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in business management of non-formal productive sectors”, in an effort to support people linked to the milk production in a very small scale, but whose income is significant for the family economy and it is also a tool to face the trade opening process where their products will soon compete with many others globally.
