Resumen

BOLANOS ALFARO, John Diego. Implications of periodic monitoring of potable water quality in Grecia, Alajuela, Costa Rica . InterSedes [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.28, pp.39-53. ISSN 2215-2458.

The drinking water monitoring is developed specifically in the city of Grecia, in the province of Alajuela, involving 14 Rural Water Associations (ASADAS) and the Municipality of Grecia, to work with a total sample of 25 emerging, 20 storage tanks subscribers and 25 water services. The aim is to improve the assessment of water and highlight the problem that currently represents that resource, the strengths and weaknesses in terms of water resources found in the research phase of development may well be extrapolated to typical situations facing the country and very specifically in many ASADAS of the Western Region. Finally, regular monitoring of drinking water quality in the canton of Grecia allows for environmental risk factors or to human health, which may have a ASADA or Municipality, to facilitate the timely development of criteria oriented to the prevention or correction any non-conformity. Among the main problems are: the vulnerability of the springs in terms of pollution, defective chlorination processes and contamination with coliform me several study sites.

Palabras clave : Water quality; drinking water; physicochemical and bacteriological parameters of water; ASADAS.
