Abstract

OROZCO ALVARADO, Javier  and  NUNEZ MARTINEZ, Patricia. Theories of development: In the analysis of tourism. InterSedes [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.27, pp.144-167. ISSN 2215-2458.

This work focuses on analyzing the different approaches to development, so we started with a very general review of development theories, reaching local development theories in order to explain the evolution of development theories and understand some of the causes of the lack of development in many destinations. The objective is to provide practitioners and scholars of tourism, some theoretical elements that allow us to understand development issues and to generate insights to understand the direction that, as usual, continued many of our destinations.

Keywords : Sustainability; Economic Development; Economic Growth; Sustainable Tourism.
