During the 80’s, in the industrialized countries, the Information and Communication Technologies (acronym in Spanish: TIC - Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación) revolution took place, which leaded to a new society called “of knowledge and information.” This name emphasized the social change process that defines our time, since it is not limited to the economic and technological field, but it also expands to the social, cultural, political and economical field that integrate the present world as a whole. That is why the knowledge and information society represents a new development and structure model, based on the technological matrix of the TIC. The importance and relevance of these technologies demands the evaluation of the impact they might have in the technological transfer in the TIC, mainly in the informal productive sectors. Technical, cultural and productive management of TIC is mandatory for an adequate performance in the contemporary work world, since the informal productive sectors have to make an effort to integrate the TIC into their production processes to foster initiatives related to their activities through new technological tools. Within this scenario, this article gathers the experience of the Project ED-2742 of the “Extensión Docente de la Universidad de Costa Rica,” Guápiles, named “Inclusion of Information and Communication Technologies (TIC) in the business management of the informal productive sectors”, which main purpose is to facilitate technological tools to groups of informal productive sectors in Pococí, to allow them to have access to the knowledge in the TIC in a way that they can be integrated into their business idea to expand their expectations and consequently improve their life quality. The benefit obtained by the people who integrate the informal producers group selected for the project, has translated mainly into an added value of the knowledge in the use of TIC for professional and family development, and consequently in the possibility of articulating the acquired knowledge within their expectations of business development to promote activities related to their business through new technological tools. This project also aims to maintain the producers of the informal sectors in their activities, through the replacement of the empirical methods with which they have traditionally managed their businesses with technological methods that will satisfy their businesses needs. It also motivates this business sector to incorporate sustainable production practices based on the social, environmental and economic perspective.
