Grocery stores face threats from the competition they wage with convenience stores. A study was carried out in Tecate, B.C. Mexico with the objective of determining if they have management capacity, variable of the micro level of Systemic Competitiveness and its relation with the age of the business and the academic level of the owner. It is a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study, with a 95% confidence level and 5% error. The owners indicated that they have management capacity showing weak relationship with the academic level of the owner and none with the seniority of the business.
