Abstract The role of didactics in the university teaching and learning processes This study stems from the findings in a doctoral thesis chapter, but adds a different section to address the topic of university teaching. This article focuses on outlining a theoretical framework of knowledge about the role of university didactics in the teaching and learning processes. It sets forth a basic but sustainable framework of knowledge on the subject, aimed at fostering research, analysis, reflection, and the applicability of didactics to education, mainly in the context of higher education. The study resorts to a qualitative approach and a documentary research technique.
