FERNANDEZ FERNANDEZ, Daniel  y  MOLINA OVARES, Andrea. The Good Clinical and Research Practices course endorsed by the National Council for Health Research of Costa Rica: reflections concerning the field of psychology. Reflexiones [online]. 2022, vol.101, n.2, pp.1-28. ISSN 1659-2859.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15517/rr.v101i2.44352.

Introduction: This article seeks to systematize and make effective the concerns and debates generated from the implementation of the Good Clinical and Research Practices course that psychologists must currently take in order to be accredited by the National Council for Health Research (CONIS) in compliance with the requirement of the Biomedical Research Regulation Law (No. 9234).

Objective: To this end, the research seeks to identify the value that members of the academic and student community of the School of Psychology of the University of Costa Rica have on the approach to bioethics, health and the therapy in the framework of this course. Likewise, the objective is to learn the criteria that the academic community considers essential for the development of a course of this nature.

Method and technique: The research methodology is qualitative and the data were collected using the problem-centered interview technique. Regarding the information analysis, the assessments made by the people consulted on the content of the Course were typified and then an analysis of the arguments supporting these assessments was developed.

Results: The research shows that there are important disparities between the course paths and the way in which the interviewees conceive the work of psychology. One of the points on which there is most disagreement is the scope of the course, since some people think that it covers all disciplines, including psychology, while for others the course concerns only medical disciplines. As far as both teachers and students are concerned, two clearly defined antagonistic positions are outlined. One of these positions states that the Course is inadequate for the approach of ethics in relation to psychology, while the other position argues that the guidelines it provides are correct for that purpose.

Conclusions: As a conclusion, an aspect that must be emphasized is that, although the contents of the course are valuable for thinking about ethical dilemmas in general terms, their applicability is limited for going deeper into the axiological problems of the psychological field.
