Introduction. This article presents the results of the analysis of the evolution experienced by the community of students, graduates, and teachers of Sede del Sur Branch of University of Costa Rica, from its foundation in 2006 to the present. Objetive. The student community is analyzed to characterize the people benefiting from this process of university regionalization. The graduate population is studied with the objective of determining the impact caused by this branch. Finally, the teaching staff is studied to observe the institutionalization process experienced by this study center. Method and technique. The data was taken from the enrollment and graduation statistics generated by Oficina de Registro, in addition to Oficina de Planificación Universitaria, both institutions of the University of Costa Rica. Results. In the results found, the growth of the Sede del Sur Branch stands out, from 21 students and 1 career in 2006 to 450 students and 5 careers in 2019. This translates into enrollment with a greater presence of women, a greater number of students from Brunca Region, more women having degrees over males, more people from Brunca Region having degrees and a considerable percentage of scholarship students. About the teaching staff, most have a bachelor's degree, with very fragmented working hours. Conclusion. Research reveals that this university Branch has its greatest impact in the Brunca Region when compared to other regions in Costa Rica because most of its students and graduates are from this area. Furthermore, the specialization and consolidation of the teaching staff is a slow process, although it has advanced in recent years.
